Weaving

I’m learning the art of inkle weaving, which at this point mainly consists of ten-foot-long, one-inch-wide bands useful for medieval belts, straps and trim - and even more useful for helping me improve my technique before I get into more complex patterns.

The first of these pieces is inspired by the ceramics and fabrics of northwestern France. The middle three are inspired by the snowy trees and skies out my window here in Vermont. The last represents the colors of my home region of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Panther Vale (whose website I run).

I’ve branched out into themed bands, taking inspiration from Sam Wilson’s Captain America (left) and WandaVision (second from right).
