Merida

I’m pretty proud that in a year when everyone else was Elsa, my daughter wanted to be Merida. (I’m mostly kinda pretty much sure I kept my total THIS IS THE BEST DISNEY CHARACTER EVER OMG SHE’S A REDHEAD AND SHE’S AN ARCHER AND SHE CAN’T EVEN WITH THESE STUPID MEN AND SHE’S SCOTTISH AND OMG bias a healthy distance away from my child’s healthy right to express herself in any way she chose.)
I used a commercial pattern to sew the dress and bought the Disney-licensed archery gear, then made the cape freehand. I had to modify the dress in quite a few places to match the movie version, and left a long hem so it could be easily lengthened.
It did get a couple more years of use (last image) before it finally got too small for summer faires.
