My sashes are reproductions of those worn by supporters of the suffrage movement of the early 20th century. My most popular sash has the traditional colors of the (American) National Woman’s Party: purple, white and gold. (As stated by the Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage: "Purple is the color of loyalty, constancy to purpose, unswerving steadfastness to a cause. White, the emblem of purity, symbolizes the quality of our purpose; and gold, the color of light and life, is as the torch that guides our purpose, pure and unswerving.")

I also offer two British color schemes. One carries the colors of the “suffragettes” in the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU), purple, white and green. This group is more famous today for its association with the Pankhursts and its militant methods. The other group are the “suffragists” of the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), who wore red, white and green. They took a more peaceful tack and allowed men into their groups.

The Costumers for Climate Action movement uses blue, white and green—the colors of the earth—for its sashes.

If you want a red, white and blue sash, I'm happy to make those too. I can also create any combination of colors, though they may not be historically accurate, of course.

I also offer seven special-edition sashes. Fifty percent of the profits from these sashes go to the following nonprofits:

  • The ACLU, in memory of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in the colors of her signature lace collars and black robe.

  • Emilys List, to help progressive women run for office, in Elizabeth Warren's campaign colors of navy, white and liberty green.

  • Everytown for Gun Safety, in white and orange, the generally accepted symbolic colors for those fighting gun violence.

  • NARAL, in the pro-choice movement’s colors of green and white, supporting women’s reproductive care.

  • The Trevor Project, in pink, white and blue—the colors of the transgender rights movement—supporting LGBTQ youths at risk 24/7.

  • Unicef, to benefit humanitarian programs in Ukraine.

  • The Vermont Flood Response & Recovery Fund, in Vermont’s colors of yellow and green, aiding flood victims in my state.
